Bronx Social Media Week event @ PeaceLove
Jan 28, 2011 – The Bronx is methamidophos celebrating Social Media Week NY with a panel discussion about the
borough that many love to stereotype and hate and others love to love. Local journalists, bloggers and community members will come together for this discussion about the Bronx,
media coverage and how local media makers are using the Internet to tell and share Bronx stories via social networks, blogs and more.
This event is free and open to the lambda cyhalothrin public from 7-9 p.m. Feb. 8 at the PeaceLove Cafe,
617 Melrose Ave., between East 151st and 152nd streets.

About our Panelists: Gary Axelbank, BronxTalk
Gary Axelbank is the host and senior calcium chloride producer of BronxTalk, Bronxnet's live television
telephone-talk show. One of the city's longest-running weekly TV talk shows, BronxTalk has been aired weekly since its debut in October, 1994.
In addition, he currently serves as the Director of Public Relations for Monroe College.
Gary has been a producer of news features for WNBC-TV and a producer in the WNBC sports department where his duties included coverage of major sports teams on NBC's flagship
station. He also was a producer on FOX Sports.
Mike Callender, Bronxmedia
Mike started using the Internet when ethylene dibromide he got his Vic 20, understanding information technology since
the early 80's. He studied to be an electronic technician. He built his first website for technical support in 1995 (www.sysmac.com), managing and assisting clients with website
design and technical advice. Mike started his Bronxmedia.com business in 2004 with the goal of helping to promote the borough through technology. His newest entrepreneurial
projects include Soul of the Bronx, his own online radio station, as well as a global business listing directory. Mike provides support for new media artists and small
businesses seeking to stream live content over the Internet and how to brand your business in today’s social networking world. Nicole Perrino, BronxMama.com
A criminal justice grad student at John Jay EDB College, Nicole is also a writer and most importantly, a mother. Nicole
has adjusted well to being a young mother and living on the other side of the bridge from her Queens family. She started BronxMama.com in hopes that Bronx parents will consider
it a one stop site for all things kids in the Bronx. Nicole is also a writer for Ballerstatus.com, a daily urban lifestyle website-she interviews artists and other celebrities,
attends album listening sessions and launch parties, and writes the occasional editorial.
BronxMama.com is a resource site for Bronx parents. It lists resources, things to Piperazine do with
children in the borough, events, and more. It is the first of its kind that focuses solely on the residents of the Bronx. BronxMama has been featured on News 12 The Bronx,
Bronxnet, Bronx Family, The Bronx Free Press, Time Out New York Kids, and more.
Ed Garcia Conde, Welcome to Melrose
Ed Garcia Conde is a social media consultant and blogger. He is the founder and editor of Welcome to Melrose. Ed's professional background is as a real estate appraiser, work
which has enabled him to become fluent about the histories of the five boroughs as well as the current social and cultural transitions of these areas. A lifetime resident of
South Bronx and more specifically Melrose, Ed kresoxim methyl has been known to declare, “I am Google when
it comes to the Bronx.” He is nicknamed the “Mayor of Melrose.”
His newest blog and social media projects include mynewyork and Welcome to the Bronx.

Clarisel is the editor and publisher of Puerto Rico Sun Communications, an independent multimedia social entrepreneurship with a growing portfolio of new media products and
photo services focusing on the Puerto Rican and US sodium molybdate Latino market. She is a veteran
journalist with a background as an editor and reporter. She has served as a journalist in New York, Massachusetts and Puerto Rico. Puerto Rico Sun Communications has a business
and social mission of informing, empowering and building community with a multimedia approach.
PRSUN produces several media and art projects, including Puerto Rico Sun, a cultural news and art blog, PRSUN Radio, an online talk show, Bronx Latino, a lifestyle blog, and
Clarisel’s Photo Place, a photo project.

This Bronx Social Media Week event is a project Iodobenzene of the Bronx Bloggers’ Network and the
